In Iraq we started using it to disagree on any logical issue.

I understand that freedom of expression goes both ways,
you have to hear what the guy on the other side says, respect his view even if you don't agree to it. Bare in mind that I know I have the right to criticize and discuss the matter with him or others, without insulting him, demonizing him or cursing him. That is all inside the frame of a legal point of view. Because I am not gonna respect the ideas of the right-wing Islamic extremists that calling for jihad against the Christian and killing everyone not muslim their way. Same goes for right- wing non Muslims that calling for the extermination of all the Muslims around the globe.

Back to the point.
Today December first , used to be the day of the martyr in Iraq. It is a day like any other days except we at schools used to stand a minute of silence to the souls of our falling. In the same day, the sons of martyrs are giving recognitions in public.

After the war this day was the first to be removed and labeled as " Saddamist " by the new kids on the political block. And regarding the martyrs, civilians and military men as war casualties.

We can sit here and argue Wither these IRAQI people were Saddam's military army, unarmed women, innocent kids, air strike and conflict casualties for as long as we give a damn.

But what we can not do is to forget that, civilians were killed and soldiers were soldiers of Iraq , fellowed a direct military order, in the past and after the war. We all have many martyrs the fell throw the Iranian Iraqi war in the 80's , we all have martyrs fell in the 91 Airstrike, In the Kurdish conflict in the 90', invasion of Kuwait, withdrawal of Kuwait,the Shaban movement, the Ramadi uprising 96 , 98's Airstrike, the segregation era, the 03' war, the 06' civil war, the daily car bombings . Don't tell me you have no one died in any of these cuz if you don't that means you are the luckiest human on earth or you and you while family just never lived in the country.

Iraqis have to relies that Saddam has ruled the country for three decades , if we want to not do any thing he did or took a stand on we would be walking naked eating each other on the streets of Baghdad.

I don't know what is you beef with the Iraqi martyr day. But if we won't give our martyrs recognition and respect then why should we deserve it in our present life?
